RACE INFORMATION

This year Going the Distance for Brain Injury Run will be held on Sat. Sept. 5, 7:30 am at Corporate Woods Office Park, 9401 Indian Creek Parkway, Overland Park, KS 66210. The run which starts at Building 40 includes a 10K, 5K, 1.5 Walk for Thought and Fun4kids.  

Enjoy music, multiple vendor booths, and great food in a park-like setting, which includes ample parking. To find out more details on the different events being held, click on the link below.

This year the Run will focus attention on teams that honor or memorialize someone who’s had a brain injury. Please contact Bev Jacobson, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to provide us with information about your team and the individual being honored or memorialized. All 10K, 5K, and Walk for Thought participants, including the Virtual Run, will receive a high-tech t-shirt with the GTD race logo. 10K and 5K participants are eligible for age group awards. All 10K participants receive a finisher’s medal, available for pick-up race day.

NEW THIS YEAR

Every GTD run participant will receive a Virtual Event Bag distributed online. The Virtual Event Bag provides important information from sponsors, discounts on services and special incentives. In early August, individuals who have registered for the run will receive information on how to access their bags. Course Highlights: 

10K Run (6.21 miles) 
Start: 7:30 am

The course will take you through a beautiful, peaceful wooded course. The 10K is certified, and chip timed. All 10K participants will receive a finisher’s medal and age group awards (see below). Timed course begins and ends at Building 40. See the section below for awards. For the safety of our runners on the 10K and 5K courses, no strollers please.

5K (3.1 miles) Run/Walk
Start: 7:30 am

The course will take you through tree-lined roads in the Corporate Woods Office Park. This race features full chip timing and age group awards (see below). For the safety of our runners on the 10K and 5K courses, no strollers please.

Walk for Thought (1.5 miles)
Start: 7:45 am

The Walk for Thought event is an opportunity to celebrate someone special to you who was touched by brain injury. The Walk for Thought will begin at the 10K/5K start line. The Walk for Thought is more about celebration and camaraderie and having fun. Interested in raising funds for programs that support survivors and families? Check out the ‘Team’ page. Strollers welcome on the Walk For Thought.

Fun4Kids Event
Start: 8:45 am

Children ages 1-8 can experience the thrill of victory in multiple events including the Kiddie Dash. Fun4kids events will take place on the grassy area adjacent to the vendor’s pavilion. All children receive an award.

We are offering a Military and Youth (Under 18) $5 Discount for those participating in either the 10K, 5K or Walk for Thought. We ask that you provide valid ID at Packet Pickup. Online registration closes Sept.3 11:59 pm

*Late Registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt or inclusion in race results. 10K and 5K – Awards will be given to the top overall Male and Female and the top master (40+) Male and Female in both the 10K and 5K. The top three finishers in each age division in the 10K and 5K, male and female, will receive awards.

 Awards can be picked up after the race. After Sept 5, awards should be picked up at Garry Gribbles Running Store, 11908 W.119th St. To determine if you are a winner check race results at http://www.kcrunningcompany.com/results/

RACE DAY SCHEDULE: (Be sure to note start times for both the 10K and 5K)

6:30 a.m. – Late registration and packet pick-up begins.
7:30 a.m. – 10K & 5K start
7:45 a.m. – Walk for Thought Start
8:45 a.m. – Fun4Kids Event in grassy area near vendor area
Both the 10K and the 5K feature electronic timing.
